Liposome Encapsulation

Liposomes, sphere-shaped vesicles consisting of one or more phospholipid bilayers, an advanced drug/molecule delivery technology to put active molecules inside cells. Liposomes can be conventional with a lipid bilayer and water dissolved constituent and there are also coming highly stable 2nd Gen liposomes, modulated by the lipid composition, size, and charge of the vesicle. Liposomes are currently popular as a carrier of mRNA vaccines, water and lipid soluble peptide drugs, antibiotics, siRNA/DNA gene therapy agents, and enzymes.

Synthesis of liposomes is easy in laboratory conditions but high encapsulation efficiency, small monodisperse particle size, and continuous automated flow reactions are possible with microfluidic chips systems.
